Sculptra is a product specially developed to help the body to "fill-in" the lines, wrinkles and depressions which develop naturally over the years. Sculptra's active ingredient is a poly-L-Lactic acid, which helps to stimulate the body's own production of collagen whithin the line or wrinkle, making the skin appear smoother and firmer.
Sculptra is a a discreet approach which allows a gradual effect to occur. Usually 2 or 3 treatments are required and natural-looking effects should become noticeable after approximately 6 weeks. Sculptra generally lasts between 12-36 months and is commonly used for facial contouring/volumising to increase volume to the cheek and jowl area.
How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra works by stimulating the bodies own production of collagen to replenish your skin, which can help to provide more natural and longer lasting results. Sculptra works over time, each session builds on the last to produce a more natural looking appearance that doesn't look like you've had work done.
Are any side effects?
The most common side effects with the use of Sculptra include bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising or swelling at the site of injection. These side effects generally resolve in 2-6 days. One possible delayed side effect with Sculptra can be small bumps under the skin in the treated area. They won't be visible but you may notice them only when you press in the treated area. Ocassionally, these bumps can go away on their own. As with all procedures that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection.

Where in the face is Sculptra used?
Sculptra Aesthetic is used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds. It is suitable for deep folds between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds), folds around the corners of the mouth (marionette lines), sunken cheeks, wrinkling in the cheeks or chin, deep scars.
Does it hurt?
As with all injections you may feel some pain and discomfort. You may also notice a brief sensation al the injection site and local anaesthetic and cooling may be given in some instances to increase your comfort.
