IS THIS A TOXIN?
The active ingredient of anti-wrinkle injection was first discovered when it was produced by bacteria that grew in food that was not well preserved. Since then it has been purified and has a wide range of uses in the medical field. The dose used in cosmetic procedures is minimal and has no effect on the rest of the body. Anti-wrinkle injections are considered to be a safe procedure which is used worldwide for both medical and cosmetic purposes. It is recognised as a medicine and is used widely in the NHS to treat medical issues such as irritable bladder, muscle contracture and spasms, in much higher doses than we use it for aesthetic purposes.

In aesthetic use the length of time the affect last depends on the strength of your muscles and the size of the muscle treated. The stronger and larger the muscle is, the more quickly it will overcome the effect of the injections. The maximum effect of muscle relaxation is about 2 months but effects will continue to be apparent for a period of 3 to 4 months before muscle strength returns.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS?
Most side effects are short-lived and mild, the most common being mild bruising to the injection site. Some patients also report mild headaches shortly after the treatment, but these usually subside within 24 hours.
WHO SHOULD NOT HAVE ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTION?
You should not have this treatment if:
• The injection site is infected.
• You are allergic to any of the ingredients.
• You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• You have a neuromuscular disorder.

Your expression lines will return gradually. If you choose to maintain the effect with muscle relaxants you will require repeat injections 2 to 3 times per year.

On the day of your consultation, Dr. Aguilar will explain the treatment and whether this treatment it is suitable for you. The doctor may also suggest other treatments that you may benefit from. For example, if your lines are very deep and will not be removed by anti-wrinkle injectables alone, you may benefit from dermal fillers, polynucleotides, or other treatments Dr. Aguilar offers.

After the consultation, provided there are no circumstances that make it inadvisable, you will be asked if you wish to go ahead with treatment.

If you wish to go ahead, consent will be taken, and pre-treatment photography will be carried out, patient photographs are strictly confidential.
IS THIS PROCEDURE PAINFUL?
The treatment is not very painful as the needles we use are very fine, so we don't routinely numb clients; however, numbing cream can be applied 10-15 minutes prior to treatment if you would like.
You will undergo a series of injections into the area treatment area, Dr. Aguilar is highly experienced and has performs this treatment on a daily basis. This experience ensures that treatment is safe, efficient and effective,
