TEAR TROUGH TREATMENT

Hyaluronic Acid

This well established and very popular non-surgical treatment is appropiate for some patients with lower eyelid dark circles or hollows (referred to as "tear troughs defects"). In the lower eyelid weakening of the orbital septum, and in the cheek area (mid-face) a loss of soft tissue volume, tend to accentuate the appearance of the lower bony orbital margin which lies between the lower eyelid and the cheek. This also leads to the appearance of lower eyelid fat pockets and together these can lead to a "tear trough" depression, dark eyelid shadow or hollow eyelid.

Where does it work?

The treatment works on the depressions that run from the nose and around the under-eye area which becomes more noticeable as the skin sags and also becomes thinner with age, following changes that the infra orbital bone suffers .

How does it work?

Dermal filler injections around this area do not only improve the depression, they also help thicken the skin and, as a result, reduce the visibility of dark blood vessel colour in the area. Therefore, the treatment is beneficial in the correction of dark circles as well as the depression and eye bags.

The tear trough is a specialised area of the face. You should ensure that tear trough injections are undertaken by an expert in the field and following consultation, to determine that you are suitable for this treatment.
