What is Aqualyx®?
Aqualyx® is a revolutionary fat dissolving treatment designed to permanently reduce small pockets of fat. Aqualyx® fat dissolving injections is an effective and safe option for double chin and lower face areas. Aqualyx® is applied via injections and works by breaking down fat cells. These cells are then removed naturally through the lymphatic system. It is commonly used to treat small pockets of fat under the chin (double chin) and can also be injected to remove fat from under the arms, the upper back, stomach and lower back. Aqualyx® fat dissolving injections are ideal for removing stubborn pockets of fat which remain after regular exercise and irrespective of weight. The procedure works through injecting Aqualyx® directly into the targeted area to remove the stubborn fat pockets. The result is a slimmer, more defined chin and jaw area. One of the main advantages of Aqualyx® is that it doesn't cause saggy skin following treatment.
Why to choose Aqualyx®?
There is a range of fat dissolving treatments available but research suggest that none of them are safer or more effective than Aqualyx. The most common alternative is Kybella but it is not yet approved for use in the UK. AQUALYX® ia an equally effective if not better treatment for double chin removal without going through surgery.
Which areas can be treated with Aqualyx?
Aqualyx® fat dissolving injections are a non-surgical treatment. The treatment does not require incisions or stitches. Therefore, there are no general anaesthetic risks and scarring is very unlikely. Aqualyx® is designed to permanently remove small pockets of fat, it can be used to remove double chin, chubby cheeks or in the body. Aqualyx® can be injected in the following areas: - Double chin - Lower face - Cheeks NOT RECOMMENDED for periocular area. How does Aqualyx® work?
The active substance deoxycholate causes the breakdown of fat cells and the release of fatty acids which are then eliminated by the body‘s normal metabolic processes. This process takes around 4 to 6 weeks and therefore, one should not expect any results prior that time period. Patients usually experience swelling, redness and possible bruising after the treatment. Within a couple of days, any discomfort or pain in the treated area usually disappears. This treatment is ideal for small fat deposits on the face and neck. It may be used to reduce a double chin, chubby cheeks and jowls. The number of treatments required differ from one person to the next. Generally two to four treatments are required, with intervals of 4 to 6 weeks, to obtain successful results. Dr Aguilar will provide a free consultation to discuss your expectations and evaluate your suitability for treatment. During the consultation, Dr Aguilar will explain the procedure, expectations, after care and any possible complications. Prior to injection,, the area to be treated is marked out. The Aqualyx® solution is mixed with lidocaine (an anaesthetic) before injection for your comfort. The intralipotherapy technique will then be administered to ensure that the fat in the target area is removed. Following treatment, Dr Aguilar will massage the treatment areas and you will have to continue this massage at home for several days after your treatment. You will experience swelling and tenderness in the treated area and there may be some temporary bruising. The area injected will feel tender for 3-5 days and appear swollen for 7-10 days. These timescales vary between patients. A minimum of 2 treatments is required to achieve the desired results. Typically, 2-3 sessions is sufficient. However, depending on the amount of fat to be removed and the patient response to treatment it can take more than 3 sessions.
