What is Carboxitherapy?
Carboxytherapy refers to the cutaneous and subcutaneous administration of carbon dioxide gas (CO2) for therapeutic purposes. Carboxytherapy originated at the Royal Spas of France in 1932 with the treatment of patients afflicted by peripheral arterial occlusive disease. By injecting small amounts of carbon dioxide just below the surface of the skin we are tricking it into increasing the blood circulation to that area. Also, has a mechanical effect to induce collagen production and restore skin structure. Carboxytherapy involves small injections of CO2 to the targeted area, using a fine needle. This has been proven to be a safe and effective treatment for both the face and body. Carboxytherapy is a effective as an aesthetic treatment to improve skin quality as well as treating cellulite. The controlled introduction of CO2 gas stimulates blood flow, stimulating collagen production, improving blood flow, increasing skin elasticity, reducing inflammation and improving tissue oxygenation. ALL CELLS IN THE BODY RELEASE CARBON DIOXIDE AS A WASTE PRODUCT THAT CAN THEN BE REMOVED FROM THE BODY VIA EXHALATION THROUGH THE LUNGS. WHEN CELLS ARE EXPOSED TO HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF CARBON DIOXIDE, THEY FLIP THEIR CONFORMATION, RELEASE THE OXYGEN MOLECULES, AND THEN PICK UP THE CARBOX DIOXIDE SO THAT IT CAN BE EXHALE FROM THE LUNGS. AS A RESULT OF THE USE OF CARBON DIOXIDE THE TISSUES INCREASES THEIR OXYGENATION AND IMPROVE THEIR CIRCULATION.

The Botulinum Toxin is injected into the targeted area to block nerve activity which triggers the sweat glands. This significantly reduces the onset of sweating. The treatment is safe with only minor side effects. Patients can expect to experience a reduction in sweating within a few days of treatment and the treatment is effective for approximately six months. Prior to treatment, a numbing cream may be applied to the area being treated to reduce discomfort. The Botulinum Toxin is then introduced via a series of injections to the treated area. The procedure is swift and does not lead to significant down time following the procedure.
